Enai, is Kestrel's old nurse and a Herrani slave, however Kestrel freed her and build a shelter for her. She died of an illness that caused her to cough a lot. In her last moments, she warned Arin not to break Kestrel's heart.
Enai taught Kestrel a lot about the Herrani, their gods, and their culture and arts. She also encouraged Kestrel to play the piano after her mother died.
